Conservation Agreement
The Smith Family's commitment to conservation has led to an unprecedented gift for future generations: approximately 3,095 acres permanently protected. The agricultural conservation easement, whose details are currently being negotiated, will enable this portion of the ranch to continue to operate as a working ranch. When the Smith Family and the Land Conservancy of SLO County reach a final agreement, the land will be protected at no cost to local residents or taxpayers statewide. This extraordinary gift will be overseen by the Land Conservancy of San Luis Obispo, a local organization recognized for its commitment to managing land trusts.
